Soulshifting
One good thing that has come of all the recent turmoil is a new album that I have tentatively entitled Soulshifting. With a tentative title also comes a tentative album cover:
And a tentative track list: Ancient Sky (Sternwanderung) 10:50 Below is a small excerpt from the tracks Dolmen and Promenade d'hivre (sans protection), but please bear in mind that this is a very very early sample that is still in the pre-mixing phase. The volume levels might be a bit low or a bit loud in places and the overall quality not nearly as good as it will be when finished, but it will at least give you an idea of the texture of Soulshifting.
There is still a lot of work to be done on this album so I can't say when it might be released, but likely before Ways of Knowing. Add Comment (2)
Want to make the gods laugh?
...then tell them your plans.
You might have noticed that the planned release of the album Ways of Knowing has came and went, and the album was not released. Much has happened between the last post and now (moving house, the ending of a long term relationship, and another move to happen soon) that has completely shattered all of my plans. So to make a long story short, I'm not sure when Ways of Knowing will be completed and released. Stay tuned... Ways of Knowing - A Work in Progress
I have started recording new tracks for the next album that I have tentatively titled Ways of Knowing. These new tracks are shorter than the ones you will find on the first three albums, and are exploring a different sound than the first three.I have the first cut of the five tracks done and will be editing and fine tuning the mix before having them mastered. I hope to release the new album towards the end of the year.
Currently the tentative titles of the tracks are: 1. Bodh Gaya 2. The Song of Amhairgin 3. Womb 4. Ancestral Memory 5. Three Feathers
I'll be putting some samples up soon so stay tuned.
Coming Projects
A coming project (perhaps the next one…) is a collaborative work with a good friend of mine, the poet Jason Kirkey, combining his spoken poetry with my soundscapes. We’ve done a couple of experimental tracks, and they are extremely powerful. Taking concepts that have been “imprisoned” in words and giving them to the listener with the deeper backdrop of the soundscape can bring new levels of intensity to our experience. It can heal us by allowing us a glimpse beyond what has been trapped in a word into the source of that idea or concept or feeling. Our understanding of the word can be transformed, and we find new meaning in words.
Most importantly though, blending these things together allows us to experience the invisible world with our soul, and not only with our intellect. We can better understand the message the sound and words are bringing and more clearly articulate our response to that message.
New myspace profile
I just put up a new myspace profile at http://www.myspace.com/primalambience
Looking forward to the adds
The First Triad
By the time anyone reads this, I will have released my debut releases of three CDs: A Deeper Landscape, Dreamflight, and Invisible Worlds.
I hadn’t intended to have three CDs for a debut release… just the way it happened. I have dubbed them “The First Triad,” although they are not a series, at least not officially.
The first one that I finished is A Deeper Landscape, which I originally intended to call The Perilous Within. As these tracks were in the studio being mastered, I continued working on new material and experimenting with different instruments and effects (A Deeper Landscape is mostly synthesizer and samples, Dreamflight and Invisible Worlds mostly guitar and effects.)
By the time I was more or less satisfied with the sound of A Deeper Landscape, I had enough new material for two other CDs, so I decided to have them mastered and to wait to release them all at once… besides - I had a lot of other things to do, like cover art and building the web site.
All in all, I’ve been working on these three CDs for nearly ten months now, so I think it is time to release them. I hope you enjoy them.
